AS Roma has officially announced the "progressive return" of its historic 'ASR' crest, a move that will undoubtedly be celebrated by many of the club's traditionalist supporters. The significant decision was revealed in an end-of-season message to fans from the club's ownership, the Friedkin family.

With the AS Roma ASR crest, Roma replaces the current design, which features the "ROMA" text and the founding year "1927". The ASR crest revealed by AS Roma is not an actual old logo, but a newly designed crest that takes inspiration from old crests, in particular those of the 1960s and 1970s.
The key changes compared to the current AS Roma crest are:
- Return of the ASR Monogram: The most significant change is the reintroduction of the classic, intertwined ASR (Associazione Sportiva Roma) monogram in the lower half of the shield. This historic symbol is deeply cherished by the club's supporters.
- More Traditional Lupa Capitolina: The depiction of the Capitoline Wolf suckling Romulus and Remus in the upper half has been updated. The new version appears more detailed and traditionally rendered, moving away from the more simplified, modern graphic used in the previous logo.
- The color scheme of traditional Giallorossi yellow and red remains, with the new crest featuring a yellow outline.
In their official announcement, AS Roma highlighted the importance of this change, stating it is a "progressive return of the historic ASR crest, a symbol that embodies the soul of this Club."
The new 25-26 kits will have the old crest
A key question that remains unanswered is when the new crest will make its debut on the club's kits. We strongly expect the old-new logo will be applied from the 2026-27 season, and that the new 25-26 kits will have the old crest.
Indeed, the protests by fans against the logo change made by President Pallotta in 2013 have never stopped, and now the fans are finally being heard.
